The project is about emphasizing the importance of the unfamiliar celestial bodies, the asteroids. We are considering some of the major problems NASA is facing and we are trying to find creative ways of overcoming them using the asteroids. Additionally, we are trying to have an impact on the public opinion about asteroids and the significance they could have in the future of mankind.This project is solving the Asteroids 2025-2100 - Future History challenge. Description
Our project focuses on the current problems such as global expansion, shortage of rare materials and the colonization of Mars. The one thing all of these problems have in common is the possible solution by using the asteroids. - The first part of our solution, focuses on asteroids as mining colonies, with the sole purpose of extracting water and rare materials, such as gold, platinum, palladium etc. In the future, asteroids can be the perfect solution of the problem of the increased material consumption. - The second, and more valuable part of our solution, is the part concerning the possible colonization of Mars. This idea can be made much more plausible by using the resources the asteroids can provide. Additionally, we can create asteroid space stations, which will be used for further space explorations. - Lastly, we created an Android application which should help visualize the process of capturing and relocating an asteroid.
