Our project is a mobile app that allows farmers to communicate about pests and plant diseases. They can upload pictures allowing other users to try and identify the pest/disease. It has a sample report submitted by one of my teammates, as well as a submitted picture of a plant disease waiting for other farmer users to identify it. In its vision option, we suggested the use of ultrasonic detectors to detect pests, and the NDVI technique and temperature/humidity sensors to detect plant illness.This project is solving the Crop Alert – Learning From the Growers challenge. As stated above, our project aims to allow local growers to communicate and inform each other about pests/diseases. They can submit reports of pests' infections, post pictures, share any type of data concerning their harvest in order to take advantage of the experiences of the other farmers on the app and help prevent further harvest damages.
