The app is a social networking and Alerting app for farmers which could give warnings to farmers about the potential pest issues depending on the weather conditions.It tries to collect information from farmers and other organizations related to farming about the crops that they grow and the pests that they affect them to collect data for scientific research.

This project is solving the Crop Alert – Learning From the Growers challenge.

For registered users, the system alerts about potential pest issues using SMS

The app will have a search feature that will provide a probable crop disease/pest information based on various search criteria including symptoms,location,crop etc.

The app also provides a rating feature for remedy

Future:

The project could be extended to use the NASA GIS information like NDVI and compare against the impact of soil moisture ,

nitrogen level etc on pest and crops.Sensors based on Arduino could be installed on the farms to collect various information. The crowd sourced data collected from the app can be used for studying the impact of weather conditions on crops and pests.
