ClearSkiesAhead app let's Citizen Scientists record the colour of their local sky, using their mobile phone to take photos, for comparison to air quality monitoring database images to determine levels of aerosols within the atmosphere.

This project is solving the My Sky Color challenge.

ClearSkiesAhead aims to inspire Citizen Scientists to collect a variety of consistent cloudless sky images from their local areas, to add sky image data to the Aeronet (AErosol RObotic NETwork) and other air quality monitoring databases.

ClearSkiesAhead will achieve this by using its usage instructions : 1. Photographer stands with their back to the sun; 2. Phone camera is pointing at 45degrees above the horizon; 3. Image frame is of a cloudless blue sky.

ClearSkiesAhead will achieve this by using its sky colour image classification system : pixellation, sky colouring, time of day and location.
