SOCIALEYES FOREST

The project tries to involve the public into forest preservation efforts using a social app and web plataform for enviro-events sharing combined with multitemporal satellite images and user supplied custom map layers for complete analysis of impact, evolution and causes of deforestation by human actions or natural events.

MAIN GOALS

• Involve everyone in forest preservation, not only scientist and government agencies but tourists, students and anyone armed with a smartphone, sharing the information you provide in real time to a global data repository for its explotation.

• Identify deforested areas and put them in a multitemporal analysis of satellite images spatially visualizing the occurrence and impact of forest degradation events around the world.

• The crowdsourced data and information generated by the web platform will be accesible for scientist, goverment agencies and policy makers to shape the actions to take to control deforestation.

THE SOLUTION

The solution includes an mobile app for social sharing of environment threats and a web platform for further analysis and data visualization. The mobile app will give the people the weapons necesarry to record a photo or video of an enviro event, geotag them and provide additional information like the cause of the event (like atmospheric, minning, logging, urban expansion, etc) and others to help describe the context of the event.

The crowdsourced events are overlapped with NASA supplied satellite images and synced in time. The web solution gives the oppotunity to goverment agencies, scientist and public to enhance it by custom map layers
