Co-habitants of the city get an identity: dogs and cats predict earthquakes

Stray animals are one of the biggest urban issues that very few countries are able to deal well with. The estimated total worldwide is reported to be between 20 million and 600 million according to the World Health Organization (WHO) and other reporting bodies.

iLaika is a Turkish startup creating a social network around stray animals while providing data on animal behaviour to be used on mainly earthquake research, health and security.

Connecting co-habitants İLaika is a connectivity and scientific system. It is the first to bring hard scientific data and social networking around animals; it is where science and emotion come together around the co-habitants of our cities.

Welfare for everyone Through iLaika, stray animals will have an identity; a simple collar linked to a social network where those lives will be tracked, adopted, fed, sterilised, protected and loved. People around them will be able to form communities, come closer to the animal lovers and haters with the same perspective: welfare for everyone.

Science of prediction: Can earthquakes be predicted? There are many observations around animal behaviour; seismic research, health and security. While they are cared for; stray animals who are usually taken for negative characters will help science. iLaika collars will share temperature and motion data with NASA. So goes the zeros and ones to find out whether earthquakes are sensed by animals or whether they can be predicted.

Science and emotion coming together around co-habitants Given the chance to develop, iLaika will bring scientific improvement to a diverse, lively and peaceful street! And in the future, other animal populations and even other planets can be observed through such a system. It is all about science and emotion coming together around the co-habitants.
