dragonfly-drone

Unmanned air vehicle for multi-gravity applications on the earth and the space, those gravity forces will be manipuladed to our convenience e.g earth gravity force is 9.81 m/s2 and space gravity is zero. There are several methods for doing this which will be applicated in this project.

This project is solving the ZERO GEE Bee – Your Friendly Neighborhood Drone challenge.

Description

We are participating on the category Zero Gee Bee with the purpose of developing an unmanned air vehicle able to be controlled in two ways, the first one is by a radio frequency (RF) control where the user can maneuver the drone manually avoiding obstacles, in the second one the control is autonomous since it has the ability to fly making use of a camera which helps to see and locate objects in real time.

We pretend this prototype to be multidisciplinary so that it can be useful in many applications as the agricultural, the civil, the surveillance and the exploration sectors.

When we talk about the agricultural sector we refer that the current fumigation methods put in risk the health and physical integrity of people and by implementing the drone this problem will be solved, this is a fact thanks to a mechanism installed at the base of the drone that allows it to carry fumigant tanks (that can be replace at any time) while monitoring the state and growth of the plants to identify damaged zones of the harvests through artificial vision.

We are using a control system to stabilize the movements of the drone when this is in the air to detect unwanted maneuvers from the brushless motors in order to correct them to make a softer and more efficient fly.
