Description

We are a team which is a mix of Met Office staff and other Space Apps regulars. We have come up with our own challenge which is relevant to the Space Apps Earth theme. We are interested in applying novel multivariate analysis techniques to analyse climate models and observed data including clouds and other related variables. We have developed some prototype applications using Google Motion Charts to visualise time varying relationships between clouds and other variables using observational data ISCCP data from NASA, and climate model data from the World Climate Research Programme's Coupled Model Intercomparison Project. We have also used an R library to apply the 'decision tree' classification method to identify the different factors controlling cloud variations in different climate models.
